The Friday 5 🖐️ Strawberry Granola, Soup & More
Plus the incredible food we ate in Cabo, a new video, and planning season 2 of the podcast
Hi Friend!
Happy March 1!
I saw a post yesterday that said the sun will start setting at 6pm this week and won’t set before 6pm again until the end of October. All of this daylight is making me giddy.
Lots to share with you this week! Here’s this week’s Friday 5 👇:
1. MAKING
Strawberry Healthy Homemade Granola
Healthy Homemade Granola was one of my first-ever blog posts. It went viral (literally millions of visitors over the last 10 years!) and launched my career as a blogger (now called an Internet Grandmother 👵😉).
I’m still here blogging, so I guess it worked out! I tell the story and show you how to make this new strawberry version in this week’s video.
2. EATING
My vegan version of French onion soup has been a top Google search for years.
I had a hankering for the original, it’s just so comforting and quite easy to make.
Let those onions get really brown, and don’t skip the fresh thyme, it totally makes it! Use beef bone broth to up the protein, or use any stock you have on hand and you’ll still have a fantastic soup.
3. BATCHING
Sugo (aka Does-It-All Red Sauce)
I make a big batch of this red sauce about once a month for pizza, pasta, and more.
It’s healthier, more cost-effective, and better tasting to make it yourself. I’m currently making a video and writing out the recipe for you. Stay tuned.
4. PLANNING
Season 2 of the podcast!
I’d love your thoughts, what are you most looking forward to listening to? Use this poll and/or leave a comment to let me know.
5. SAVORING & REALIZING
We had a little family getaway in Cabo last week and enjoyed incredible food.
I’ve found that it’s so important for me to get away and not cook for a week (I didn’t take my computer either!) to come home inspired and excited to create.
I love to cook—it’s a big part of my job and family life. But just like with anything we love, we need breaks and space sometimes. I realized that the type of vacations where we rent a place with a kitchen and continue to cook all week (while they can be fun) are pretty draining for me. A real break from daily life does wonders for creativity and mental health!
Here are some of the things I loved:
Happy Friday!
