The Friday 5 šļø: Homemade Sorbet, Summer Pants, New Diet Science & More
You donāt need a diet label. You need this. (And maybe a bowl of sorbet.)
Hi hi!
Did you know if you blend up a small bag of frozen fruit with some lime juice, youāll have the best sorbet of your life?! Itās all below.
Also, itās almost tomato season. Every year I debate growing tomatoes (ā¦am I really saving money? Probably not, but itās fun and a hobby that doesnāt involve my phone) and every year I go for it. This week, Iāve got fresh finds for your kitchen, your closet, and your business.
Hereās this weekās Friday 5ā¦
Whatās Inside:
A 5-minute frozen treat youāll make all summer
New science on the best diet (spoiler: there isnāt one)
My go-to summer pants that still look brand new
When and how to plant your tomatoes
A sneak peek at the content system I swear by
1. Making: Easy Raspberry Mango Sorbet
AKA Easiest Fruit Sorbet (No Churner Needed)
Homemade Sorbet is one of those easy recipes thatās almost too good to be true. Youāll need:
āļø Frozen fruit (frozen raspberries and frozen mango really shine here)
āļø Maple syrup or honey
āļø A food processor (or blender, just be careful not to over blend)
Blend it up and youāve got a vibrant, refreshing sorbet that tastes like summer. I like to add a squeeze of lime juice for brightness, but lemon works, too. Itās naturally sweet, dairy-free, and the perfect clean treat.

2. Finalizing: The Diet Debate
Letās settle this once and for all: there is no one ābestā diet. So you can stop looking for it.
Dr. Christopher Gardner, Ph.D., a leading professor of medicine and director of nutrition studies at Stanford, was recently on The Huberman Lab podcast to share what his decades of research have revealed. His team has compared ketogenic, vegetarian, vegan, and omnivorous diets, and the conclusion is clear:
š Humans are highly adaptable.
Weāve been marketed to from every angle that thereās one perfect way to eat. But the truth is that different people thrive on different eating patterns, and the same human can thrive on multiple eating patterns.
What all the science agrees on is this:
š« Eliminate or dramatically reduce ultra-processed food
š„¦ Prioritize whole, real foods
š Eat in a way that supports your body and lifestyle
Michael Pollan said it best: Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. Then go live your life.
3. Wearing: The Pants of Summer
Iāve tried a lot of linen pants, and these are the ones I keep coming back toāIāve had a few pairs of these linen pants for over a year now (and they still look new!)
Compared to higher-priced options (I tried the Athleta pair), Quince wins hands down. The white Athleta ones were see-through (returned immediately), and the black pair didnāt hold up.
QuinceĀ is a direct-to-consumer brand that cuts out the middlemen and brings us luxury goods at affordable prices. These pants are lightweight, breezy, and perfect for warmer monthsāplus they pack beautifully for summer travel.
I also love my Cotton Fisherman Sweater in Navy ⦠itās just like the Jenni Kayne one but 1/4 the price.

4. Planting: Itās Time for Tomatoes!
If nighttime temps in your area are staying above 50°F, itās time to get those tomato plants in the ground.
Hereās how to set them up for success:
š Tomatoes need deep planting. Bury them so part of the stem is undergroundāthis encourages stronger roots.
āļø Tomatoes love sun, so choose the spot in your yard that gets the most sun.
š§ Water consistently and donāt let the soil dry out completely.
šæ Use compost to boost your soilās nutrients and give them room to growāwhether itās a deep garden bed or a large pot on your patio.
Unlike herbs or leafy greens, tomatoes are heavy feeders and need more space. Give them support with a cage or trellis, and youāll be picking tomatoes all summer long.
