The Friday 5 šļø A Great Chili, Silk Pillowcases, Gut Health & More
Check out this new recipe, a fantastic Mother's Day discount, thoughts on "endowment effect," and an invitation to learn more about Gut Health with me...
Happy Friday! I have SO much to share this weekā¦
Spring is a time for fresh perspectives, and Iāve been thinking a lot about how I want to eat and live in this season.
Specifically, I want nourishing food without obsessing over diet restrictions (see the awesome beef chili below), and I want to declutter without stress. I also want to continue to learn, grow, and evolve, all while allowing more ease and less rigidity.
All of these things can seem like big asks, but I think they are possible with some effort and mindfulness. Hereās what Iām doing this week to make it all happenā¦
Letās get into this weekās Friday 5 š
1. Eating
This healthy beef chili recipe is on repeat in my house, especially when itās cool and rainy and we want something hearty and nourishing to fill us up.
People often ask, āIs ground beef healthy?ā ā I also discuss that here. (The short answer is yes, high-quality ground beef can be wonderfully nourishing.) Enjoy this one!
2. Loving
This Cozy Earth lounge dress and their new silk pillowcases. The fabric and quality are DIVINE.
Cozy Earth, the maker of the finest quality bamboo housewares, is offering my email subscribers 40% off for Motherās Day! This is the best discount availableāI think they offer 30% off on their website, but they know we love Cozy Earth over here so Iām excited to share it with you. Use code ELIZABETHRIDER40 at checkout through May 12th for 40% off anything on their website.
If you havenāt ever slept on a silk pillowcase, then youāre missing out. Itās worth the investment! Silk's smooth texture causes less friction than cotton or synthetic materials, which can help reduce hair breakage, tangles, and frizz as your hair glides more easily over silk. Plus, it just feels luxurious.
3. Also Eating
In case you missed it last week, my new Spring Spinach & Asparagus Salad is here, and while itās just 6 simple ingredients, this isn't your average salad. We're using a simple technique to bring out the best flavors and textures to make a truly great dish.

4. Contemplating
Specifically, in this season, the āendowment effectā keeps coming up for me.
If youāve never heard of this concept, it's fascinating! The endowment effect is a psychological phenomenon discussed in behavioral science where we value things more just because we own them.
In short, you value things more simply because you own them.
This means we often hold onto stuff we don't need simply because we own it. Recognizing this bias can help you get real about decluttering. When I clean out my closet, I ask, āWould I buy this right here and now?ā Or, āIf I didnāt own this, would I be excited to buy it at this moment?ā
Letting go is easier when we see that our attachment is a mind trick.
5. Signing Up For
The Institute for Integrative Nutrition Gut Health Course.
If you're anything like me, you consider yourself a lifelong learner.Ā
New research and education are always emerging, and one of my top priorities is to grow and evolve along with emerging science.
Before the pandemic, I used to make every effort to take at least one continuing education class each year. And, let's say I kinda haven't done that for the last few years.Ā
I'm getting back to my roots and committed to taking at least one new course or class each year to stay informed and up-to-date on what's going on in the world of personal well-being.
I'm excited to share that I'll be taking the new and updatedĀ IIN Gut Health Course, and you're invited to join me! And, of course, I scored my community a great deal.
The gut affects nearly every system and organ in the body.Ā
Research has linked gut health to a host of chronic conditions, and many believe it holds the key to physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This course emphasizes the interconnectedness of all parts of the body, focusing on how a compromised or imbalanced gut can affect holistic well-being.
Class starts May 28th. This course is flexible (a few hours per week on your own time) and comprehensive. I have a jam-packed summer planned and feel like it will all fit in nicely.
As a member of my email list, Iām excited to offer you an exclusive 45% discount on this transformative course. Use the code ELIZABETHRIDERĀ at checkout. BTWāyou can use that code onĀ ANY Integrative Nutrition classĀ through May 28th.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers!
Elizabeth
